Finally got around to try the Kraft 1 bag, 5 diners meal plans. So far we’ve tried 3 plans in the chicken & beef section (bags 1, 5, and 6). I must say, it’s been nice coming home after work, and not having to think about what to make. I really enjoyed following these, and so far the recipes were tasty. While I’ve made minor changes to some recipes, I’ve followed most of them as described.

We’ve had another 3-4 winter storms in the last month. I tried taking a few pictures, but none of them really came out good. The local paper had some nice photos, so I’ll show those instead. Here’s one of the sidewalk on Queen street.

Here’s another one from the Times & Transcript.

Josh found a recipe for Peanut Butter Brownies the other day and wanted to try them. I had everything on hand except the heavy cream. I debated skipping the heavy cream since it was only use for the topping anyway. but I had never tried that kind of topping before. Most recipes that I had come across that had a layer of chocolate on top was always just semi-sweet chocolate with either a bit of milk, and a bit of butter. I always found that those were difficult to spread, so I decided to give the heavy cream a try. I’m glad I did, the ganache spreaded evenly and easily, and it was delicious. The brownies were very tasty, I would make this recipe again.

I really should have thought about taking a picture before we dug in.

We had our first snowfall of the season today. It was rather unexpected, especially since it seems that we really haven’t had much of an autumn just yet. You’ll see from the picture that the leaves haven’t even finished falling yet from the maple trees. Strange sight.

I’ve been signed up to the Kraft Canada website for some time now, from which I receive newsletter emails and the magazines. This week’s email headline is “1 bag, 5 dinners“. While I’ve sseen this in the magazine before, I checked out the website, and much to my surprise, there’s a whole list of these.

Josh and I have been racking our brains letely trying to think up new ideas for dinner, but mainly trying to get a weekly meal plan going. Since there’s so much variety, I think I’ll give one of these a try. The plan gives the 5 recipes for the week, and a grocery list, so it couldn’t be simpler.

Signing up for the magazine is easy too. Just make an account on the website, and select that you want to receive the magazine. Best of all, it’s free.

My endpaper mitts are finally finished. Not that they were really all that time consuming, it just seems I wasn’t motivated to finish them.

The pattern is available from Eunny Jang’s website.
